How one month of tracking gave me answers after years of unpredictable periods.
If someone had asked me a year ago when my next period would start, I probably would have laughed.
The truth is, I had no idea.
For almost 20 years, my menstrual cycles were anything but predictable. There were years when I only had one or two periods. I learned to live with the uncertainty because, honestly, I didn’t know any different.
I just assumed that’s how my body worked.
After having my IUD removed, something unexpected happened.
My cycles slowly started becoming more regular.
At first, I didn’t trust it.
I kept waiting for things to go back to the way they had always been.
Instead, month after month, my body continued to surprise me.
That was the moment I realized I wanted to stop guessing and start understanding.
Why I Decided to Try Proov
I’ve always been someone who likes information.
Maybe it’s the HR side of me, but I feel more comfortable making decisions when I have data instead of assumptions.
I wasn’t looking for perfection.
I wasn’t trying to obsess over every hormone.
I simply wanted to know what my body was doing.
Was I actually ovulating?
Were my cycles becoming more regular?
Was there something I should be paying attention to?
Proov seemed like a simple way to begin answering those questions from home.
Seeing My First Cycle
When I opened my first completed hormone chart, I wasn’t expecting to feel emotional.

But I did.
For the first time, I wasn’t relying on an app’s prediction or trying to guess based on symptoms.
I was looking at information that reflected what my body had actually done.
That might not sound like a big deal to everyone.
But after years of wondering if my body was working the way it was supposed to, it felt significant.
It wasn’t about getting perfect results.
It was about finally having something to learn from.
More Than Just a Test
Around the same time, I had also completed my first Rythm biomarker testing.
Those results raised questions about my LDL cholesterol and my hormone levels, while Proov helped me understand another piece of the puzzle—my cycle.
Neither test gave me every answer.
But together, they helped me ask better questions.
And sometimes, that’s exactly where progress begins.
What I’m Learning
One thing this experience has taught me is that our health isn’t made up of one number or one test.
It’s a collection of habits.
A collection of choices.
A collection of patterns.
The more I understand those patterns, the better decisions I can make moving forward.
What My Tests Revealed
Cycle: June 25 – July 26
Test day: July 20 (Cycle Day 27)
PdG (Progesterone metabolite):7.8
E1G (Estrogen metabolite):77.5
βLH:0.1 (very low, which is expected after ovulation)
Looking Ahead
I’m going to keep tracking.
Not because I’m chasing perfect results.
Because I’m curious.
I’m excited to see what changes over the next few months as I continue eating more foods that fuel my body, staying active, and learning more about how everything works together.
I don’t expect every answer overnight.
But I finally feel like I’m asking the right questions.
